Meet Your Advocate
Hi, I'm Arielle
People often ask why I became a doula, and the answer has always come back to one thing: Support matters. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I watched families navigate pregnancy and birth during one of the most uncertain times many of us have ever experienced. At the same time, I couldn't ignore the maternal health disparities that have disproportionately affected Black women for generations. As hospitals restricted visitors and families faced pregnancy with less support than ever before, I found myself thinking about how important it is to have someone by your side—someone who listens, educates, advocates, and reminds you that you don't have to go through this alone. That belief became even more personal when I reflected on my own family's journey. Years earlier, my sister was unexpectedly hospitalized during her pregnancy, and the only thing I could think about was getting to her.
Looking back, I realize that's the same way I approach every family I serve—with the belief that no one should have to face pregnancy or birth without someone in their corner. Over the past six years, I've had the privilege of walking alongside families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Every birth has reinforced one lesson: while I can't control how a birth unfolds, I can help families feel informed, prepared, and confident throughout the journey. My professional path has always been guided by one question:
How can I better support women and families?
This question led me to become a Certified Birth Doula through DONA International. As I cared for more families, I expanded my practice by becoming a Licensed Massage Therapist specializing in prenatal and postpartum care. Wanting to deepen my clinical knowledge, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The George Washington University and became a Registered Nurse. Today, I continue that journey as I pursue my Master of Science in Nursing in Nurse-Midwifery, with the goal of providing compassionate, evidence-based care throughout every stage of pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and beyond.
No matter where I am in that journey, my mission remains the same:
To help every family feel safe, heard, informed, and empowered.
